Earlier treatment of herpes especially genital herpes at the first signs of outbreaks have shown dramatic improvement in treatment of herpes overall with the diminished effects on the time lasting continuum. There is a statistical trend to a reduction in the level of STD infections in patients taking anti-viral treatment at the earlier stages, however there was no evidence strong enough to conclude that treatment could effectively reduce the risk of further transmission of Genital Herpes virus from the infected individual to other people.

In addition, there was no significant evidence that could help differentiate between various methods of genital herpes treatment to help identify the difference and find the optimal methods or medicine application the produces the most effective curative effects on genital herpes treatment. However it is established that earlier medicine application do have a prolonged curative effect on genital herpes prevention and minimizing the outbreaks, the rate of HSV type-2 in genital secretions. The effect of containment of the herpes virus is generally realized in the long-term treatment with shedding of HSV type-2 among people who have genital herpes. The major flaw of all treatment and medicine against the genital herpes is the factor of regularity, all prevention treatment is whether it based on drugs or microbicide, must be applied regularly to provide effective protection.
